Sammanfattning: This is a study about the process of composing and arranging new folk music with the help from a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). It is written from the perspective of a musician who has previously mainly worked with acoustic music and live performances. It discusses how the process and result is affected by this tool, and how it affects the playing on the acoustic instrument itself. The study makes use of three methods: 1. composing the music first and arranging in a DAW afterwards. 2. composing directly in a DAW and involving other musicians via phone calls and Zoom meetings. 3. Meeting with other musicians in a music studio, composing together with help of a DAW. The conclusion is that the more the DAW is used in the process of composing and arranging, the more the music gravitates towards production and sound design, and becomes less about the live performance.
