Bergum en kulturbygd i gränslandet

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvård

Sammanfattning: I have worked with Bergum in different courses on the Integrated Conservation of Built Environments program and I thought it was a very interesting subject. This is the main reason why I chosen to write my bachelor paper about Bergum. In 1650s Bergum was situated on the border between Sweden and Norway, because of that it occurred some war conflicts. Today Bergum is a socioeconomic border and is situated in an area between the city’s concrete suburb and the countryside. The difference between the city’s concrete suburb and the countryside may feel like two different worlds, were the social contact is fractional. With this paper, I will indicate a countryside area on the boundary to the city through time and try to survey the building history. I will also try to demonstrate the socioeconomic differences between the areas. I will demonstrate Bergum history from prehistory to present time, were I will discuss the agriculture history, Vättlefjäll’s forest history and also the deforestation and replanting. I will also discuss the nature value in the ravine landscape in Lärjeån’s valley. Bergum church is also something I will write about. The oldest part of the church is from 13th century and is situated on a small hill were the buildings settlement are close to the church. Because of that, the distance to the church is very short and therefore it’s easy for the people to visit it. In 1968 the authority of the city of Gothenburg placed a suggestion of a general building plan for Angered-Bergum area. The suggestion was to create a community with a population of 130 000 people. This is also something I will write about. In this paper I have asked questions to informants’ were are living in the concrete suburb and in the Bergum countryside, to create a good and relevant picture of the area.
