Sammanfattning: This paper examines how national stability affects the states ability to participate in an international cooperation. The study is based on the African Union and its member states. The stability is studied and analysed through three different factors: politics, peace and economy. Participation is studied with three measures for participation: the creation of the union, representation, contributions to military actions and economy. To conclude this paper these factors for stability and the measures for participation are analysed in relation to each other, to show the affect of national stability on participation. The analysis in this article is based on the two theoretical perspectives liberalism and post-colonialism.
