Sammanfattning: The most common pathology affecting the joints of the body is osteoarthritis. The illness is a result of various factors such as genetic predisposition, age, heavy strained and repetitive movements. Osteoarthritis has been detected in populations throughout the world and time periods. This essay aims to investigate whether the neolithic population buried in the passage grave Öllsjö 7 in eastern Scania had osteoarthritis and to which extent. The material was examined in it’s entirety and a total of 14 elements displaying eburnation, a definitive evidence of osteoarthritits, was found. The elements could be converted to a minimum number of four individuals displaying evidence of osteoarthritis. These four individuals were assessed as three adults and one juvenile, sex in these individuals was not possible to determine. The percentage of individuals presented with osteoarthritis was 14-21 %. The population of Öllsjö 7 was also affected by a number of other pathologies. This indicates that not only was the population buried in the passage grave at Öllsjö 7 affected by a high occurrence of osteoarthritis, but was in it’s entirety a population struck by a high occurence of pathologies.
