Sammanfattning: Background: The human being is an active creature whose hands perform many daily activities in a multifaceted interaction. Occupational therapists working with extensor tendon injuries of the hand need knowledge about treatments and evidence in their practice. Method: A literature review of eight articles was made to describe occupational therapy interventions and its benefits and disadvantages to the people with extensor tendon injuries and evidence of rehabilitation in an early stage. Result: It exist a variety of rehabilitation programs and orthotic interventions with similar effects, but disadvantages are not highlighted in these studies and people's views of the result of the interventions is given little attention. Discussion: The rehabilitation concept that is considered easiest for the treated person and occupational therapist to perform can be chosen since none of the studied concepts can be regarded as having more evidence. High-quality studies are needed to investigate the activity capacity of the rehabilitated persons and their own view of the result after completion of treatment. It needs assessment of rehabilitated persons compliance to advice and treatment and analyzes of the treatments disadvantages.
