Värdeadderande infomation och kommunikation : Hur pulsmöten blir en verksamhets nyckelaktivitet

Detta är en M1-uppsats från Högskolan i Jönköping/JTH, Industriell organisation och produktion

Sammanfattning: Purpose – The purpose with this report is to investigate how the pulse methodology can affect the internal information and communication flow in a manufacturing industry. To fulfill the purpose, four research questions have been formulated: What should the information visualized on the pulse board be based on? What kind of information can be communicated back and forth to the pulse methodology? What value-adding information can an employee miss on the pule board that affects the internal information and communication flow? How can the employees’ internal information and communication flow be affected by getting the missing information visualized on the pulse board? Method – To achieve the aim of this study different data collection methods has been used at the company HordaGruppen AB. The authors have used the methods interviews, surveys, observations and an experiment. The observations formed the basis for the interviews and surveys questionnaires and in order to get an overview of the internal information and communication flow. The experiment was designed from the result of interviews and surveys. The collected data was then analyzed together with the theoretical framework to form the result of the study. Findings – The study shows how significant the pulse methodology and the pulse board are in order to add value for the employees in the internal information and communication flow. In order to develop and make this activity more effective some Lean tools are important to create standards which continuously can be developed. In this study an interaction between verbal and nonverbal communication has taken place by visualization, which resulted in value-added information for the employees and their daily work. Implications – The theoretical contribution of the study is why companies should develop their internal activities in the same pace as their customers. The practical contribution of the study is how important the pulse methodology in a manufacturing company. The study has created a foundation and an understanding of how this key-function should developed and get more effective in the same pace the needs of employees and customers. The study has also a social contribution regarding the importance of continuously updating the pule board which facilitates employees’ daily work. Limitations – The study has been implemented at a chosen company in a limited amount of time. In this study the internal information and communication flow has been studied with value stream mapping and focusing on the daily pulse methodology. Keywords – Pulse methodology, Information and communication flow, Toyota production system temple, Lean, Visualization, Internal communication, Lean communication
