Sammanfattning: Abstract Author: Jakob Rönnqvist Title: Värdegrundsarbete inom handikappomsorgen – en studie om medarbetares syn på värdegrundsarbete Supervisor: David Hoff In recent times, ethic related questions have come to play a major role within organiza-tions and corporations. The introduction to basic value work can be seen as a conse-quence of this process. Previous research indicates that basic value work often has positive effects on organizations and corporations. Nevertheless, previous research also points out that there are problems connected to basic value work and practical work. In the following study, the aim was to elucidate coworkers’ view on basic value work within group homes for mentally retarded persons. The study was based on six semi-structured interviews with coworkes within the observed organization. Data has been analyzed in the light of Bolman & Deals structural and symbolic framework. The result of the study indicated that basic value work is a modern phenomenon. The result also showed that basic value work has an impact on the organization on different le-vels. Depending on chosen perspective, basic value work has different functions; structurel functions, symbolic functions, democratic functions etc. The study also vi-sualized several problems with basic value work – these problems are especially appa-rent when basic values are applied to practical work.
