En diskursanalys över när Ryssland blev uteslutna ur kvalet till fotbolls-VM i Qatar 2022

Sammanfattning: This report's main interest is in the decision to exclude Russia from participating in the qualifying to the 2022 football World Cup in Qatar. This topic is important because the action that led to the exclusion was Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This was an action in the international- and political relations of the world and it has little to do with sports and the World Cup in football. We therefore find it interesting to see how politics influence the sport and this particular situation is an example of how politics interfere with sports. The main question in this report is “What was the discourse like when Russia was excluded from participating in the FIFA playoff qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022?”. The question will be answered with a critical discourse analysis called the WPR-chart. The main message from this report is that politics is part of the world of sports and that how a nation acts in the arena of international politics can affect that nation's opportunity to compete in international sporting events.
