"Direkte till Amerika" : En studie om publicitet för emigration till Amerika mellan 1866-1875

Sammanfattning: This essay aims to analyze the publicity for emigration to America between the years 1866 to 1875 that targeted potential emigrants from the region around Kronoberg county. The reason for this is to find out how the obstacles and factors that existed during the time were affected by the marketing. The main material used in the essay consist of ads in papers connected to Kronoberg county, letters sent from America to their family in Sweden and manuals about emigrating to America from Sweden.In addition, articles and other small forms of text will also be used. The main result show how the different forms of marketing target different obstacles and factors. An additional result showed that new forms of obstacles and factors were identified which were not anticipated beforehand.
