Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to examine whether employers maintain the stereotypical gender norms in their recruitment of employees. The case that we were interested in examining was the recruitment of social workers in Sweden. We conducted a quantitative content analysis where we created an analytical instrument based on previous research, which we then applied to a total selection of recruitment ads. Because social work is a female-dominated field our work was based on the hypothesis that female characteristics dominate in the ads. We were also interested in seeing if the advertised work’s inclusion of leadership had any impact on the result. The outcomes were analyzed using two theories created by Judith Butler and we came to a conclusion that female characteristics did dominate in the recruitment ads. Our result also showed that there was a distinct increase of male characteristics when the recruitment advertisements contained a managerial position.
