Flyktingströmmen 2015 : En kritiskt jämförande diskursanalys av ledarartiklar i två svenska dagstidningar

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Europastudier

Sammanfattning: Interpreting the text and the discourse is the fundamental idea of the critical discourse analysis (CDA) and it enables you to look beyond the actual written words and focus on the discursive climate. It is of outmost importance to keep in mind that the interpretation of a text is only just that, an interpretation. We live in a society amongst different people and what one person believes to be true does not necessarily mean that that is the only truth. The research presented below aims to provide knowledge of how two Swedish newspapers, Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet, portrayed the refugee crisis in 2015, by analyzing a total of eight editorials. Sweden encountered many challenges in 2015 when an estimated 160 000 people came to seek asylum. This increase in applicants meant that a lot of new regulations, as well as border controls separating Sweden from the rest of Schengen, had to be put in practice. The description of the refugee crisis has differed depending on the media outlet, and the study conducted below shows that the editorials describe two different political sides of the debate. However, what the newspapers and the articles do have in common is that they are all touching upon the subject of finding a solution to this horrible event that affected millions of lives.
