Sammanfattning: In the information society, one of the most important competitive weapon for the companies, is how their co-workers process and mediate information, in other words how they communicate. The demands on the internal communication are higher today in modern organizations. This has consequences for people’s professional roles, which nowadays focus on soft qualities for example the skill to communicate. Therefore it is of interest to investigate co-workers commitment and participation in an organizations communicative environment. The research is a qualitative case study, where a flight company and their co-workers interest to engage in the internal communication are studied. Focus is on aspects which promote or prevent the co-workers to actively participate. The result of the study shows that organizational culture is an important aspect which influences the co-workers commitment. The influence is two ways and the co-workers professional identity affects the culture which causes the communicative behaviors in the company. In addition, the organizational structure is the source of possibilities but also limitations regarding the internal communication. The function is superior when designing the communication structure in a company.
