Medveten närvaro i skolan: en utvärderande studie av programmet COMPAS

Detta är en Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå från Lunds universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

Sammanfattning: In this study we explored how mindfulness training interacted with psychological wellbeing and compassion for children in early adolescence. The sample included 251 7th and 8th grade students from two elementary schools in southern Sweden. The intervention was a mindfulness based-program called COMPAS (Compassion and Attention in the Schools), which consisted of two pre recorded guided meditations that the students listened to twice a week and a reflection exercise once a week. The study was a randomized pre- and post measure control group design. ANOVA repeated measures and regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The regression analysis showed significant results on psychological wellbeing. It showed that more training in mindfulness results in fewer psychological symptoms. However, the program did not show any significant effects between the experimental group and control group. The program will continue over the course of another two semesters not including the semester this study is based on. Mindfulness effect on children is an important, but sparsely researched topic for more research is needed.
