Sammanfattning: The support for the European Union has become a more relevant issue as its population has demanded more influence and insight into the EU:s organization over the last couple of decades. Previous studies show that earlier crises in the EU have affected the public’s support negatively. However, these studies have often measured the support in member states as one group or in groups based on their geographical location. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the change of support for the EU was different in different member states during the refugee crisis in 2015, based on their level of refugee reception. Therefore, the study first divided the member states into three groups based on how many refugees they welcomed during the crisis, and then measured the support from 2013 to 2019 for all three groups. The results of this study, presented in a time series diagram and regression table, showed that there was no link between refugee reception and change in support for the EU. The support for the EU declined in all groups, but only in the short term.
