Sammanfattning: Transports in Europe are increasing. At the same time, more people are worried about the en-vironment and thus carry the impact on climate change. In this respect, the European Union is trying to push its policy towards more sustainable transports with less emissions and a reduction in climate impact through a collection of transport policies. However, there are several chal-lenges in the adapting of the market to the use of more sustainable transport (mainly by train). The process of globalization in recent decades has contributed to the liberalization of aviation, which has resulted in people getting used to travel far as well as quickly at a low cost. Never-theless, adaptations in people’s travel behaviour appear to be changing and many views the climate impact as a driving force for these changes in transport in favour of trains. At the same time, the choice of means of transport is complex and often depends on a relationship between economy and travel time. This paper will examine – by interviews and analysis of travel mag-azines – how the representatives of the tourism industry, in Sweden, experience the changes in supply and demand on holiday by trains, as well as their works and arrangements. Thus, the thesis concerns how the tourism industry handles various challenges when it comes to train traffic out to the European continent.
