Sammanfattning: The global phenomenon of climate change will influence everyone, it is just a question of how much. Agriculture is one of the areas in which climate change will have a great impact. The basis of this paper consists of a literature search and two interviews with experts on climate change and agriculture. The consequences of climate change threaten the national food security of all nations. However, the main subject of this paper is future agriculture in Sweden. Sweden might be known as a country of great resources and basis for agriculture, but the effects of climate change will be strike even here. These effects consist of extreme weather (drought, heavy rain fall, storms etcetera), sea level rise, higher demand for food and indirect effects like higher insect activity and new plant diseases. This can be solved through several methods: i) alternative cultivation methods to reduce the pressure on the conventional agriculture. ii) Sustainable intensification to increase yield per area, without it being on the expense on the local ecosystem or nature. iii) Agriculture in Sweden relies on rainfall as irrigation which is problematic during years of drought. Farmers should therefore build up water infrastructure in the form of wetlands or water tanks. iv) GMO is a somewhat controversial method, but it has great potential when it comes to pest control and defences against diseases. Through a combination of these methods, by seeing to the needs of nature, ecosystems and humans, the national food security of Sweden might be more confident.
