Syner på mångkulturellt medborgarskap: Idéanalytisk studie av kommunala integrationsplaner

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: This bachelor thesis studies ten different municipal plans for social integration through an idea analysis. The purpose is to expose and describe the approaches that emerge in the empirical material and are considered important for social integration in Sweden. The method of idea analysis takes its point of departure in the analysis tool called “dimensions”. In this study, the theoretical framework consists of different thoughts of multicultural citizenship. The results show that two dominating perceptions of multicultural citizenship can be found in the material. The first one contains a civic understanding of the community with a collectivist motivation. It encourages cultural minorities to express themselves in order to feel secure in society. According to my interpretation, the other understanding of multicultural citizenship regards the community as an ethnic constellation with a focus characterised by individualism. This angle also wants to reassure cultural minorities’ ability to expression, but for the reason of gaining individual freedom. Since the two perceptions are predominately different from each other, the result leads to questions being raised why there isn’t a mutual understanding of what multicultural citizenship is or even should be. Future research would do well in studying this further.
