Sammanfattning: The purpose of this exploratory cross-sectional study was to examine whether ageism differs between recruiters and non-recruiters and to investigate if there exists a correlation between different power motives, personality traits and workmotivation and negative attitudes towards the elderly. The data was collected through a questionnaire with a total of 123 respondents of which 44 worked with recruiting. The respondents were recruited using convenience sampling through social media platforms regularly used by recruiters. The study was carried out using four different psychological tests: six-factor personality-trait test MINI-IPIP6, six-factor motivational model test WEIMS, three-factor power-motives scale and a scale measuring positive and negative attitudes towards the elderly. The results showed a tendency with recruiters exhibiting lower ageism than non-recruiters. Furthermore, the results showed one variable determining ageism, dominance, and four variables determining a positive attitude: inner motivation, extraversion, kindness and honesty. A multiple hierarchical regression was conducted with personality traits, power motives, motivation and demographics, demonstrating personality traits and demographics determined various levels of ageism. The findings in this study concluded that the three aforementioned personality traits and dominance can predict low and high ageism, respectively.
