Våld är våld - En kvalitativ studie om svenska polisers resonemang kring våld i samkönade parrelationer

Sammanfattning: The aim of the study was to examine how Swedish police officers reason about domestic violence in bisexual and homosexual relationships. The study involved six officers serving with varied work experience and age, stationed at different locations in southern Sweden. The method of the study was a combination of semi-structured interviews and vignettes. The study material was analyzed from a gender perspective, combined with the concept of heteronormativity, which led to several conclusions. For example the participating police officers reasoned on the basis of a professional perspective which meant a focus on domestic violence as a crime and that gender or sexual identity had no influence on their perception of relationship violence. Nevertheless, it was possible to conclude that same-sex domestic violence could be perceived as more complicated than heterosexual relationship violence. We also found a difference in the policemen's argument concerning the perception of the victim, where men, regardless of sexual orientation, were perceived to be more stigmatized than women.
