Sammanfattning: The aim of the study was to explore how school counselors experience and describe youth´s vulnerability on social media. Furthermore, the study intended to explore the school's preventive and remedial work to combat abusive treatment or bullying on social media. The study had a qualitative approach including six semi-structured interviews that were conducted by school counselors working at middle- and high schools in southern Sweden. In analyzing our results, we applied a social constructivist perspective and Michael Lipsky's concepts of street-level bureaucrats and discretion. This study found that all school counselors experience and describe that the jargon between youths today has become tougher both on social media but also in school. Nevertheless, the high vulnerability of youths is a problem since the victim does not get a safe zone, not even at home, from abusive treatment as social media follows youths everywhere. The school counselors' and the school's preventive and remedial work of online violations differs based on the experience when dealing with the issues. The difficulties with such fruitful work are described to be that there is a lack of clear guidelines, sufficient knowledge and that the technology gap between the school counselors and the youths is large.
