Sammanfattning: This thesis paper examines how six upper secondary school students perceive assigned fiction. In particular the students’ thoughts on issues which affect their reading are studied. Moreover the way the assigned fiction is assessed is also explored. The interviewed students were goal oriented yet they expressed certain dissatisfaction towards how the fiction was used in the classroom and suggested other means to facilitate fiction reading in classroom settings. Two of the students expressed they were under a great deal of stress, and indicated this ultimately affected their outlook on fiction reading.
