Sammanfattning: This thesis has been carried out together with Nilsson Special Vehicles AB, in further text NSV, which is a special car company located in Laholm. The project includes design development of a storage unit for the company's Volvo XC90 based ambulances. The purpose of the project is to create a modular and versatile storage solution that gives customers adaptability, without the need for redesign for each customer order. The project has primarily been carried out according to the methods and workflow described in Fredy Olsson's compendiums principkonstruktion and primärkonstruktion. The project group has taken to account that the design and the interface between the components must be modular and allow a versatile storage solution.  The project group defined the problem together with NSV through a requirements specification and a product survey. Different materials and manufacturing methods were considered before solution proposals were created. The solution proposals were scored in a chart and the chosen concept was compiled and constructed in Catia V5-software. The structural analysis was done with SimSolid-software and the storage unit is presented using the Keyshot-software rendering, as well as with photos of the prototype. The final construction is a modular storage unit with removable shelves and dividers. Based on a number of standardized components, the user can choose how the storage unit is assembled to meet the adaptability needs. Threaded fasteners were chosen to minimize rattling in the construction and the screws and nuts are rounded to minimize the risk of cutting damage and the equipment getting stuck. Anodized aluminum was chosen with account taken to the environment, manufacturing and the weight requirement of 15 kg. The storage unit is easy to clean and the construction has a safety factor of at least 3 against the yield strength of the material.
