Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Akademin för bibliotek, information, pedagogik och IT

Sammanfattning: This study aims to find out how the academic librarians traditional duties is affected by the increasing amount ofe-books in the collections. Which old tasks are still relevant and which new task has been added. The study also includes an analysis, on how the librarians perceive the change process by matching the empirical findings with Van de Ven and Pooles theoretical framework. The empirical data is based on interviews with librarians working with e-books in different departments. The interviews point out that the library is affected on many levels and in different degree. Since the libraries in this study still consist of big collections of print books no traditional tasks have disappeared and that there are new and traditional duties connected to the e-book. The change process is overall considered slow and the analysis implies that a teleologic theory, with some inconsistencies, describe the change process. The slow process and the difficulty for the e-book to breakthrough are considered to depend mainly on the low availability of textbooks in Swedish and the DRM protections.
