"Vi kan ju bara motivera" - En studie om självbestämmande på LSS-boende

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study is to investigate how staff who work with persons with mental impairment living in supportive housing describe and reflect on the clients´ self-determination and which options and challenges they experience with respect to putting the intent of the Swedish act concerning support and service for people with certain functional impairments (LSS) regarding self-determination into practice. Eight interviews were carried out with staff who works with clients who have mental impairment living in supportive housing according to LSS. The staff describe how they work towards having the clients express their will when it does not happen spontaneously. They try to be flexible towards the clients right to influence when and who should carry out supportive activities. Furthermore, the staff experience it to be challenging working with self-determination as basis. For example, it can be challenging when the wishes of the client in question is in contrast with what can be considered a good standard of living. The staff often use motivational interviewing as a tool to motivate the client to accept change. The material in this work has been analysed using the action theory of Nordenfelt and the dramaturgical perspective of Goffman.
