Faveo Project Management Tool : Framtagning av verktyg för projektstyrning

Sammanfattning: There are several Project Management Softwares on the market today. These tools are powerful and extensive to the degree they become too timeconsuming and complex and therefore often defeat its original purpose. This is the case especially when the project manager is inexperienced and/or the scope of the project is moderate. The purpose of this thesis arose from this context, there seems to be a gap between a home-made MS Excel spread sheet and the advanced softwares available. The thesis and the product has been developed in alliance with Faveo Project Management with the shared goal to create a tool which is easy to use but still covers the essential areas of project management theory. The tool will be used internally by Faveo-employees as well as externally together with Faveo’s clients in an educational purpose. The product is based on Faveo’s project management model, inspired by Project Management Institute (PMI). The product has been developed through extensive studies of literature, one survey sent to active project managers and interviews with people involved in project management from Faveo and academic researchers. The tool has been developed in MS Excel Visual Basics for Applications (VBA) and is based on spread sheets representing tools from the different fields of knowledge in project management. The tool is designed to give an integrated understanding of the complexity of project management. The result is Faveo Project Management Tool, which will be available August 1st, 2011 at the Faveo web site.
