Physical activity was also found to have a valuable influence on the individual's well-being at self-care of DMT2. Despite the motivation to change, there were also some obstacles with self-care. Diet, social events and blood sugar monitoring were described as challenging because these factors required new planning, examining and lifestyle. These obstacles resulted in feelings of guilt and hopelessness among some participants. Conclusion: Based on the results of the literature study it appeared that self-care in people with DMT2 could be challenging in many cases but that the support from other people could facilitate the self-care. An increased knowledge of these experiences of self-care can serve as a helpful tool and come to use by both people with the disease and the people around.
