Sammanfattning: In this essay we wanted to explore the function of role-playing as a pedagogical tool for learning in a classroom environment. To achieve this we interviewed teachers and looked through related literature and essays. In the literature we found different theories that highlighted the advantages and disadvantages of role-playing, with which we could look through the lens of our interviews and establish that role-play as a method of learning truly is a good way to teach empathy and a way to bring old and stiff material to life. In our result our interviewees shared insightful comments about their professional relationship with role-play and how it has worked for them. Nonetheless, the biggest flaw with role-play is that it consumes a lot of time and resources, but with a motivated teacher, role-play promises a highly inspiring and motivating method of teaching.
