Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study is to explore how employees at fountain houses in south of Sweden describes differences and similarities between them and members. The study is based on six qualitative interviews with employees, who has the title supervisors, from three different fountain houses. The empirics are analyzed throughout two main theories: Hannah Arendt’s theory about action, and Erving Goffman’s dramaturgical theory. These two theories are used to understand the material and how the idea of “us” is constructed in different ways. The results of this study showed that acknowledgement and understanding of differences between people is helpful in the process of creating equality and respect to one another. To share experiences is also something that this study presents as important, since it is a way to understand and create closer relationships. The employees have other areas of responsibility than the members, which is seen as an important thing to acknowledge in order to create equality in the work environment. With this thesis the image of employees and members as equals in a fountain house is challenged and has been seen in another light.
