"Många väntar bara på att någon ska våga fråga" : En studie om socialarbetares reflektioner kring missbruk och sexualitet

Sammanfattning: “Many just wait for someone to dare to ask.” – A study about social workers reflections on addiction and sexuality [translated title] The purpose of this study was to examine if and how social workers with experience of treatment interventions reflect about the supposable correlation between addiction and sexuality. Five qualitative semi-structured interviews were conducted with social workers who either were working with some sort of treatment intervention for addiction or who had experience from working with it. These interviews were transcribed and analysed with a queer gender interpretation of script theory in an attempt to understand the social workers perceptions through a division of behaviour to see norms and values as a product of both cultural scenes, interpersonal scripts and intra psychical scripts. The empirics were made by interviewing the social workers about their reflections on sexuality in social work, its impact on recovery and sexuality as a possible relapse risk. The result of the study was implying that sexuality not always has a axiomatic role in the social work with clients diagnosed with addiction and that LGBTQ-people were an extra vulnerable group that were not as observed. Through a queer gender script theory the social worker’s reflections can be explained on different levels in society and this makes it evident that the social workers carry a lot of responsibility for making all clients feel safe enough to process their thoughts on every part of life, even sexually. By letting sexuality take bigger place both in the education of social workers and in the daily social work we could probably prevent relapses and make the treatments as providing as possible for everyone, in and beyond the norms. This study was also aiming to reflect on the gap that there is in the research about sexuality’s impact on all groups in the society, but above all a persons suffering from addiction – including LGBTQ- people who already exists in the danger zone for addiction.
