Från kanslispråkligt stildrag till läsbart informationsövertag : En studie i hur stilistik påverkar läsbarheten hos en bred målgrupp

Sammanfattning: Written information from municipalities and authorities is often associated with a formal and bureaucratic use of language that many of us can find difficult to understand. This is despite the fact that we in Sweden have a language law that states that the language in public activities must be nurtured, simple and comprehensible. It is a democratic right that everyone should understand all information from our municipalities and authorities. The municipality of Strängnäs works according to the Language Act and follows a number of language preservation guidelines that are commonly called plain language. Despite this, the municipality's residents experience that the municipality's information texts are complicated and difficult to understand as the texts have a formal and bureaucratic use of language. In this thesis, I have with the help of text analyzes, LIX measurements and the Black List analyzed municipality of Strängnäs information texts to show which stylistic problem areas negatively affect the texts 'readability in a broad target group and how the texts' style level can be changed to improve readability. Based on these methods and with support in theories and previous research in readability, stylistics, plain language and terminology, I have designed a plain language recommendation that with advice and examples taken from municipality of Strängnäs information texts will help the municipality's writers to write more readable texts.
