Folkvilja, partipiska eller egen övertygelse? Svenska riksdagsledmöters representation i statsskicksfrågan

Sammanfattning: The Swedish head of state is a constitutional monarch. 2010 is an election year and in June Crown Princess Victoria will marry her fiancé Daniel Westling. The debate in the media surrounding the form of government and issues related to the monarchy is more relevant than ever. The SOM-institute at Gothenburg University has concluded that the Swedish people’s support for the monarchy relatively strong. Swedish MP’s are elected through a process of nomination and election. Voters, party and personal opinions are important when it comes to decision-making in parliament. By examining the Swedish parliament members' general views on the monarchy and what / who they think they represent in the form of government, I come to the conclusion that, by extension, members of parliament are representing the voters in the question of form of government. Representational theories and more specific studies made on Swedish MP’s are used in the explanation and analysis of the results from a survey sent out all Swedish MP’s.
