Monumenten i landskapet. En landskapsarkeologisk studie i Reslöv och Östra Karaby socknar med byarna Reslöv, Högestorp, Åkarp, Sibbarp och Östra Karaby

Sammanfattning: In this essay, I make a landscape archaeological analysis of the parishes of Reslöv and Östra Karaby. By studying both the visible and the hidden cultural landscape, with a focus on the Middle Ages, I identify different structures in the landscape. The starting point is the registered monuments that are documented in the Cultural Environment Register at The Swedish National Heritage Board. By locating more monuments in the landscape based on information in older historical and cartographic sources, I get a broader basis to start from in my investigation. With the help of the "new" monuments, I make a reconstruction of a possible medieval cultural landscape, which I then use in my further analysis. The various structures, such as economic, ecclesiastical, administrative, and power related, are interpreted to ascertain what the influence in the parishes has been like during the Middle Ages. The results show the great influence of the archdiocese in the parishes for a long time. There were close ties between noble families and both archdiocese and king. The importance of the place during the period examined is even more evident with the help of the "new" monuments that are part of the reconstruction of the cultural landscape. New patterns and connections have come to light and contributed to new interpretations.
