Rädda eller låta dö? En idéanalys av en riksdagsdebatt om SAAB-krisen

Sammanfattning: The following thesis studies a debate around the economic hardships for SAAB Automobile AB in particular as well as for the entire Swedish automobile industry in general. The debate took place in the Swedish parliament, the 20th of March 2009. The purpose with this study is to investigate which ideological bases the participants of the debate were grounding their statements upon. The study also investigates whether the debate was clearly ideological and whether the debating sides were loyal to their respective parties’ ideological bases. The study uses an idea analysis in its research of the actual material. Three ideological ideal types are formed; a socialistic, a liberal and an ecological. Three ideological dimensions constitute the foundation; “economic organisation”, “the view of human nature” and “all-embracing social theory”. The outcome of the study demonstrates that the representatives for centre-right parties within the debate are mostly characterised by liberal ideas while the representatives for the opposition partiers are more prone to socialistic ideas. All the representatives are to some extent characterised by ecological ideas. The ideologies in general are clearly visible in the debate. However the representatives in question demonstrate varying degree of clarity and loyalty to their respective parties’ ideologies.
