MIGRATION OF FLUID DURING DEFORMATION OF MOLTEN DEUTRATED ICE USING 3D IMAGE ANALYSIS
Sammanfattning: The behaviour of in ltrating and intergranular uid in an ice body is essential inunderstanding the deection of the glacier body. The movement of the uid duringdeformation is most naturally controlled by compressive stress and temperature gradientwhich is important in understanding the behaviour of the glacier body. 3D directimaging technique was used to observe and analyse 3 samples of deutrated ice. Thiswas done to obtain statistical and morphological topology of the samples. From analysisof the samples, heterogeneous uid ow was observed from the image renderingof the deformed sample and the style of uid ow depended on the dominant mechanismof hydrostatic pressure and uid reaction that drive permeability. Based on theobservation from this method, the distribution of the uid pathways is inuenced bychanges in stress and strain localization.
