Sammanfattning: Undertale1 is a computer game developed by Toby Fox. The game was published in 2015 and received a positive reception. The purpose of this essay is to investigate how Undertale tells his story. This is done through narrative analysis with a focus on focalizations and narrator positions. The essay touches on how text, image and sound are used in different ways as narrative instances. Furthermore, the essay sheds light on how intertextuality and metatextuality are used in the narrative. This is also discussed in relation to the reader's and narrator's positions. The essay finds that Undertale can be described as a postmodern work in which conventional reader and narrator position is challenged.
