Anställda i kommunala bolag: Är de korrupta?

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Uppsala universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: In recent years empirical findings have shown that municipalities that own more companies have higher levels of corruption. To study the relationship further this study investigate if municipalities with larger share of the employees placed in companies owned by the municipalities have higher levels of corruptions. Because many companies owned by the municipalities don´t have any employees it is of interest to investigate the relationship between the employees in the companies and the level of corruption in the municipalities. To investigate the relationship a regression tool called OLS (Ordinary Least Squares) has been applied. At first the relationship between municipalities that have higher shares of employees in companies owned by the municipality and higher levels of corruption seem to be strong and steady. However the relationship are spurious when different control variables are put in the regression model. The most significant effects on the level of corruption among Swedish municipalities are instead the size of population and how many employees that the municipalities have in public sector. However if a municipality have higher shares of the employees placed in the companies owned by the municipality it seems to increase the number of employees of the public sector of the municipality.
