Nyckelord: Caesar Nero Augustus Rom Historia;

Sammanfattning:

This is a study of ancient Rome, more specifically: the three rulers Caesar, Augustus and Nero. This study looks at how encyclopedias have treated them since the beginning of the 19th century. We also look at three other things: the Gallic Wars (Caesar), Pax Romana (Augustus) and the Great Fire of Rome (Nero).

History tells us that time changes how things are portrayed. We can see a difference between the different encyclopedias and from which country they are from. Time and place can make a big difference. The rulers and the case that is associated to them, takes a lot of hateful words or love, depending on the encyclopedia. But also, there are commonalities between them such as: the popularity of Caesar, Augustus being the first emperor, and the unpopularity of Nero.

To understand the ancient Rome, the rulers, their lives, and also to understand the time of the encyclopedias, this study aims to serve as a foundation, as more research is needed on the subject.
