Migration, which waspreviously perceived as a natural part of Swedish society, came to be perceived as a threat topublic order and internal security. In November 2015, the government presented a billcontaining proposals for extraordinary measures to curb migration. The purpose of this study, based on the theory of securitization, is to investigate and describe the securitization processof the migration issue and the Swedish government's actions in response to the migrationcrisis in 2015. The results of the study describes the different stages and components of thesecuritization process and highlights the various measures taken by the government to curbmigration and to reduce the number of asylum seekers. With the support of the theory, it canbe stated that the government judged that migration constituted an existential threat toSwedish society and its functions and that the Riksdag accepted the message.
