Sammanfattning: To increase awareness of the work of gender equality in schools among educators, the school system shall contribute to knowledge in what the concept means. To gain a greater understanding within the school environment about gender equality, changes were introduced in Skollagen (2010:800) to highlight schools in their work to counter gender stereotyped roles and all children should be treated in the same way regardless of gender. Therefore, preschools are an exciting place to examine how gender is created, shaped and reproduced. Previous research showed that educators made gender differences in their actions with the children. The researchers ware relatively agreed, that if the school and thus society are to achieve gender equality, educators should devote more of their working time to countering gender norms. Our qualitative study was conducted in a preschool with observations of educators’ interaction with the children and interviews with the educators, which resulted in the same insight as the previous research. The aim is to gain a deeper understanding of how educators work with gender equality in preschool, also to understand whether educators' actions with children create and recreate gender norms and how .The questions we ask ourselves are, how do educators interact with children and do they make differences depending on children's gender and also how do educators reproduce gender norms in their daily interactive work with children. The results of our study showed that the educators made gender differences in their interactions with the children, however we found that the actions of the educators were usually unconscious and probably influenced by normative structures.
