Sammanfattning: The purpose of this essay is to analyze how three history textbooks written for Swedish upper secondary school construct the identities of gender, ethnicity, social class and sexuality in one historical era. The analysis is based on an intersectional theoretical perspective, as a further dimension of a gender perspective. The Swedish curriculum, Gy2011, highly values its core concepts, such as equality, inclusivity and anti-discrimination, previous research shows that textbooks have failed to meet these standards.The analysis shows that there has been some development in how ethnicity is represented, gender is still mainly a male representation, social class is constructed mainly in conflict and sexuality is heavily obscured. The various identities intersect, in some occurrences, mainly gender and ethnicity, and gender and class.
