Sammanfattning: The aim of this project has been to raise the production efficiency of Daliff Precision Engineering through reduced transportation time and a more standardized manufacturing process. The problem has upraised because of a big and diversified product flora without any standard products and with just small batches ordered. The report also tries to show the work procedure with general analytical methods and be an example of how a similar problem can be resolved. The transportation time is being proposed to be reduced through a change in the layout of the factory. By moving a few manual machines, dispatch and burring to more efficient locations, the total transportation time will be reduced by 55 %. These changes would only results in small adjustments in the day-to-day activities and have a small economical risk. The change that is proposed in this report is therefore easily implemented and has the potential of giving good savings. The proposal to create the standardization of the production is through product families. The product families suggested in this report are based on a differentiation through the tools used in the production. The families were created using different production flow analysis methods, based on collected production data, and then generalized to groups of tools instead of products, due to the lack of standard products. A few tool mergers are needed to keep the families as big as possible, which make a slight increase in manufacturing time, but reduce the setup time significantly. The product family suggested contains 67 % of all products which simplifies the planning and programming and which gives it a good foundation for implementation as well. The weaknesses of this project and these methods have mainly been the transition where theoretical methods should be altered for practical problems which may have caused some disruptions in the results. Overall, the project was a success and the company received the result with an ambition to implement it. The Authors is of the opinion that the management team at Daliff are positive much due to their continuous involvement in the project’s progress.
