Ociviliserat beteende på arbetsplatsen och dess samband med faktorer i arbetslivet

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study was to investigate if witnessed incivility (from manager and co-workers) and factors in the working life of today (job insecurity, lack of influence and lack of social support) are related to instigated incivility. An additional purpose was to investigate if there are differences in instigated workplace incivility between men and women and managers and non-managers. An internet survey was distributed to all 222 white-collars at a Swedish production company and 101 individuals responded. The result shows that incivility is associated with witnessed incivility from manager and witnessed incivility from co-workers. Among the investigated factors in the working life of today only cognitive stress has a positive relation with instigated incivility. Of all the variables included in the model only witnessed incivility from a manager and witnessed incivility from co-workers could explain the variance in instigated incivility. The result also indicates that incivility is not more common among males than females and not more common among managers than non-managers. The results in this study can indicate what might cause incivility in the workplace.
