The study is quantitatively conducted and compares employees having Mini-jobs with people in full-time employment in order to explore differences in regards of work situation. Longitudinal panel data collected by the German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) is being analysed in order to answer two main research questions. The questions asked are “how does marginally employed in Germany answer to questions regarding their employment and how can the approach towards their work situation be evaluated?” and “what portrait of employees in Mini-jobs appear in the material in comparison with full-time employees?”. The research method used is regression analysis combined with descriptive statistics in order to reveal possible symptomatic patterns within the data. The findings indicate that holding a Mini-job correlates negatively with measures of satisfaction with personal income, job, and overall life situation, and that Mini-jobbers tend to struggle with relatively more insecurity in their lives.
