Sammanfattning: The purpose of the study was to describe the experience of physical activity in the recovery from fatigue syndrome. The study was based on a qualitative method in the form of thematic analysis. The data collection consisted of ten semi-structured interviews where the criteria consisted of all participants having been diagnosed with fatigue syndrome established and as well had recovered from it. Which meant that the participants were no longer on sick leave because of the disease. And that the participants also had used physical activity as an aid in their recovery. From the thematic analysis, four themes emerged that describe the experience linked to physical activity in the recovery. Acceptance of the course of the disease and in the recovery describes how the participants experience an acceptance towards the disease and which progresses throughout the recovery process. Balance between rest and activity describes how the participants find an inner balance and as well experience an increased sense of balance and control when they begin physical activity. Physical activity motivates well-being describes the motivation the participants experience with the help of physical activity. The last theme, the meeting with healthcare and its impact describes the participants meeting with healthcare and the help and care they experienced from the discovery of the disease and during the recovery period. The results show that when the individual finds an acceptance of the situation, they are more susceptible to commencing their recovery and when they find a balance in their state, the motivation to contribute with their own capacity helps to help the body recover. In the end, it is the individual himself who is the strongest driving force, but the result nevertheless demonstrates that they are in a great need of functioning communication and work of motivation in the health care sector.
