Demokrati och Ekonomi i den globala sfären - En studie av Internationella valutafonden

Sammanfattning: Globalisation has left, and continues to leave, its mark on the contemporary world. The aspiration of creating a desirable development globally is often lead by global actors such as economic institutions. In working for a sustainable global sphere, it is paramount that the global actors such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) both consist of, and spread democratic as well as economic values. The ambition with this paper is to analyse the IMF as an organisation, together with its political agenda. Ideally the IMF should find a balance between democratic and economic values, which are both intrinsic, in order to optimise its role as a legitimate, responsible, and accountable global institution. In reality the analyse of the IMF shows that even though the institution has reformed, there is still a major concentration towards economic values, sometimes at the expense of the democratic ones, therefore, further reforms are seen as desirable.
