Jag mobbar inte dig om jag vet att du inte mobbar mig : Det sociala kapitalets påverkan på mobbningen i den svenska skolan

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: This thesis examines and discusses the relationship between social capital and bullying in Swedish schools. The study is based on two hypotheses built on inspiration from the social capital scientists Robert D. Putnam and Bo Rothstein. Both hypotheses aim to explain how social capital is created, and may affect the level of bullying in school. The study is conducted through two separate comparative methods with the most similar design, that compare some Swedish municipalities. One of the comparisons is basically a quantitative part for the correlation trial, while the other, between Ekerö and Nynäshamn furthermore is used in a qualitative analysis to find out the roots of social capital. The results of the thesis indicate that it is possible that there is a correlation between social capital and bullying. However, the study does not claim whether it is the welfare or voluntary associations that are the most important way of creating social capital in this context. It appears that both ways can create social capital that may influence the level of bullying in Swedish schools. Moreover, the results can hopefully generate inspiration for upcoming quantitative or qualitative research, that could investigate the relationship between social capital and bullying in school.
