Sammanfattning: This report describes the development of a land sailer together with the consulting company Semcon. The company wants to use the product at fairs and internal events, therefore shall the product reflect Semcons core values, which are “Responsibility, Credibility, Excellence”. The aim with the development is to create a land sailer which is more portable and easier to assemble compared to existing products on the market, but in a cost efficient way. The first step in the process was to go through the material that was available and benchmark existing land sailing vehicles. Customer needs were set up on requests from Semcon. A number of concepts were generated and evaluated against the customer needs with the help of experts and in the end there was only one concept left for further development. In further developing the concept was divided into three areas, carrying case, frame, and steering. This was done virtually in a computer, where a working model was created. The construction was adapted for manufacturing and companies were contacted for a cost estimate for the manufacturing. The result of the developed land sailer is a three-wheeler with one wheel in front and two in the back. These three wheels are held together by a frame of aluminum shaped like a T. The frame is placed on the inside of a case, which is used both as storage and seat. The case is made with vacuum forming of a 5 mm thick ABS-plastic that is UV-resistant. Cushions made from foam and leather is placed in the driver's position to make it more comfortable. The land sailer is controlled by the feet through a simple device, in order to let the hands be free to manage the sail. The case has a secondary function during transport and storage. All parts of the land sailer fits inside the case, and when the rear wheels are mounted on the frame, it will be a rolling case. All the parts will be assembled with a snap function, which makes it easy and quick to assemble.
