Ungdomsarbetslöshet - en studie om arbetslösa utrikesfödda ungdomar

Sammanfattning: Our purpose in this study was to investigate how the unemployed foreign-born youths describe their situation as unemployed in relation to that they are foreign-born. The study was based on two main issues: how do youths in the age of 18-24 experience that their ability to become employed is affected by the fact that they are foreign-born and how do these youths describe their situation as unemployed based on their background as a foreign-born. Our analysis consisted of semi-structured interviews with seven unemployed foreign-born youths. The data of the study has been analyzed from a social constructivist perspective and Erving Goffmans's concept of stigma. The results of this study showed that the majority of the youths felt that their background as a foreign-born has had a negative impact on their job search. The study also showed that many of the youths described their situation as unemployed as depressing and difficult.
