Sammanfattning: Death can take place anytime and anywhere. When a student dies, a teacher or other pedagogue at the school, may need a crisis management plan in order to know how to relate to a mourning child. The purpose of this study has been to contribute to an in-depth knowledge of coping with grief and crisis in school, with focus on death. From a pedagogic point of view, we have compared three Swedish crisis plans and three Danish grief plans to see what the preparedness in these schools are showing, focusing on the role of the teacher. To answer the study's purpose and questions, we have analyzed and compared the empirical material with the help of Cullberg's (2006) crisis and crisis-therapy, and Raundalen and Schultz's (2007) crisis-pedagogy, based on a document analysis. The results found were mainly fundamental similarities that appeared in both the structure and the content of the crisis management plans section, but nevertheless the Swedish and Danish crisis management plans showed differences. The Danish grief plans were much longer and more extensive, which differed from the Swedish plans which only presented short sections regarding deaths in a few individual sections. The results of the survey finally showed that there are more conditions for Danish teachers than Swedish to help a mourning child, as there are more tools for Danish teachers to relate to in their grief plans.
