Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: The aim of the study was to analyze women’s rights workers narratives about women’s situation and women’s rights work in Nicaragua with a starting point in narrative method and theory. We focused our research on the network La Red de Mujeres Contra la Violencia which works both nationally and locally in Nicaragua with the aim to fight men’s violence against women. The network consists of individual women as well as women who represent different NGOs. To analyze our gathered material we used narrative method and narrative theory with a socialconstructionist perspective and the discourse theory for further understanding and explanation. An explanation we found applicable to the interviewees different narratives about the same topics was that different political and cultural contexts affected the interviewees’ interpretation and understanding, which as well contributed to conflicts within the movement. Previous research has pointed out differences and existing conflicts between women’s rights movements in Nicaragua, research that contributed to substantiate the result of our study.
